Welcome to Women in Momentum: Powered by Coffee, Chaos, and Compassion

If you had told me 20 years ago that I’d one day be helping build a women’s health movement while simultaneously studying, managing practicum hours, advocating for underserved communities, and Googling “How many cups of coffee is too many?”… I probably would have believed you.

Because honestly? That tracks.

Hi, I’m Jennifer Dueck-Registered Nurse, Master of Nursing-Nurse Practitioner, fierce women’s health advocate, wife, researcher, mother, community-builder, daughter, and professional juggler of approximately 47 tabs open in my brain at all times.

Welcome to Women in Momentum Inc.

This space was born out of the belief that women deserve healthcare conversations that are authentic, inclusive, evidence-based, empowering, and occasionally sprinkled with sarcasm and sass.

My journey through healthcare spans over twenty years. It began at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Peter Lougheed Centre, and later brought me to the Chinook Regional Hospital when our family relocated in search of a smaller community to raise our children. Throughout those decades, one thing became impossible to ignore:

Women are often expected to carry everything while being asked remarkably little about how they’re actually doing.

We normalize exhaustion.
We dismiss symptoms.
We apologize for taking up space.
And somehow we still remember everyone else’s appointments, birthdays, snack days…

Women in Momentum was born from a belief that women deserve better.

Better access.
Better conversations.
Better advocacy.
Better healthcare that sees the whole person — not just a list of symptoms attached to a chart and ultimately a dismissal.

This platform will explore women’s health across the lifespan: chronic disease, reproductive health, menopause, mental wellness, prevention, community care, Indigenous health perspectives, and all the beautifully complicated realities in between.

We’ll talk science.
We’ll talk lived experience.
We’ll talk about periods, pelvic floors, and pessaries; all the things we have not talked about enough or at all.

And while the topics matter deeply, I also believe healthcare education doesn’t need to sound like a 400-page pharmacology textbook written during a hostage situation.

You’re allowed to laugh while learning.

At the heart of this work is MOMENTUM — because women are constantly moving:
through careers,
through caregiving,
through grief,
through healing,
through change,
through survival,
through growth.

Sometimes we sprint.
Sometimes we crawl.
Sometimes momentum looks like thriving.
Sometimes it looks like finally booking the appointment you’ve been postponing for three years.

It all counts.

As a future Nurse Practitioner focused on women’s health, my goal is to help create spaces where women feel informed, supported, respected, and genuinely heard, especially those in rural, underserved, and historically marginalized communities.

This is just the beginning.

So whether you’re here to learn, connect, advocate, laugh, cry, heal, or simply figure out why nobody warned you about perimenopause rage… welcome.

We’re so glad you’re here.
